Indian motorcycle market is the largest in the world, surpassing the combined sales volume of Europe and the US. In 2022, over 16 million two-wheelers were sold in India, compared to just over 500,000 in the US and 1.5 million in Europe. Motorcycles are a popular mode of transportation in India, a densely populated and price-sensitive country.
Suzuki Motorcycle India has just reached a production milestone of seven million motorcycles since its establishment in 2006. The seven millionth motorcycle was a bright yellow Suzuki V-Strom 250 SX, one of the models manufactured in India and exported to other markets. Other motorcycle models produced by Suzuki India include the Gixxer SF 250 and Gixxer 250, while scooter models such as the Access, Avenis, and Burgman Street are also manufactured and exported to other Asian markets.
Suzuki Motorcycle India has seen significant growth in sales, with a 24.3% increase in 2022, selling a total of 938,000 two-wheelers. The company is expected to continue its growth with new launches, including the V-Strom 800 DE and GSX-8S in the premium segment. Kenichi Umeda, the Managing Director of Suzuki Motorcycle India, expressed his excitement towards the milestone and commitment to India, stating, “We thank our valued customers, business partners, associates, and all my colleagues for this remarkable feat.”
