Bengaluru-based electric vehicle company River has rolled out its first electric scooter called the Indie from its Hoskote plant. The Indie was officially launched in February 2023 with an introductory price of Rs. 1.25 lakh but the price will be revised due to FAME-II subsidy changes.
Pre-order customers will get the introductory price. Deliveries will start in September for Bengaluru customers and then nationwide.
The Indie has a muscular and rugged design and is touted as the “SUV of electric scooters”.
It is powered by a 4kW battery providing a range of 120km on a single charge. The battery charges from 0-80% in 5 hours. The scooter can accelerate from 0-40kmph in 3.9 seconds with peak torque of 26Nm.
Features include digital screens, USB chargers, reverse parking assist and 14-inch wheels.
It has 43 litres boot space and 12 litres storage in the front glove box.
River will open its first experience centre in Bengaluru in November 2023. The company has a production capacity of 100,000 units annually from its 120,000 sqft Hoskote plant.
