Ola Electric has just unveiled its latest model, the S1X, and it’s ready to take on traditional petrol scooters. The entry-level electric scooter comes with a price tag of Rs 79,999, making it an affordable and eco-friendly option for urban commuters.

At a customer event held at Ola Future Factory in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, the company’s founder and CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, introduced the S1X and also gave a sneak peek of four electric motorcycles that will hit the market by the end of 2024.

The S1X electric scooter offers three different variants. The basic model comes with a 2KWh battery, while the other two variants, including the S1X+ with more connected features, have a 3KWh battery. During the launch event, Aggarwal announced an introductory price of Rs 79,999 for the 2KWh battery variant for the first week. After that, the price will go up to Rs 89,999. The 3KWh battery variant is priced at Rs 89,999 during the introductory period and will be tagged at Rs 99,999 afterwards.

Excitingly, customers can start booking their scooters right away, and deliveries are expected to begin in December. The S1X is perfect for short daily commutes of around 10-20 km, making it a practical option for city dwellers.

Aggarwal also introduced the S1X+, which offers additional software and connectivity features. During the first week, it is available at an introductory price of Rs 99,999 and will be priced at Rs 1,09,999 thereafter. Customers can book this snazzy model immediately, and deliveries are expected by the end of September.

Aggarwal proudly stated that these electric scooters mark the end of the era of petrol-powered vehicles. With a range of 151 kilometers on a single charge and a top speed of 90 km/hour, the S1X is both efficient and stylish. Aggarwal emphasized the cost advantages of owning an electric scooter, highlighting that they are much cheaper to run compared to their petrol counterparts.

Ola Electric is committed to supporting India’s leadership in electrification. Aggarwal explained that by developing their own technologies, utilizing localized supply chains, and benefiting from economies of scale, they aim to achieve price parity between electric and petrol vehicles. Alongside the S1X, Ola Electric also introduced the second-generation S1Pro, priced at Rs 1,47,499, with deliveries starting from mid-September.

With the launch of these new scooters, Ola Electric’s portfolio now includes a range of models, including the S1X, S1X+, S1Air, and S1Pro, with prices ranging from Rs 89,999 to Rs 1.47 lakh. It’s clear that Ola Electric is revolutionizing the way we commute, providing eco-friendly and stylish options for the modern generation.
