Matter Energy has unveiled its first electric bike, the Aera, with a starting price of Rs 1.44 lakh for the 5000 variant and Rs 1.54 lakh for the 5000+ variant (ex-showroom, India, including FAME-II subsidy, excluding state subsidies). The Aera will be available in four versions in the future, but currently only two are available for purchase.
Both Aera variants feature a 5kWh liquid-cooled battery with a claimed 125km (approximately 78 miles) range. The Aera’s liquid-cooled motor is rated for a peak power output of 10.5kW. The bike’s battery weighs around 40kg (approximately 88 lbs), and the Aera itself weighs roughly 180kg (approximately 397 lbs). The Aera is the first electric bike to feature a 4-speed gearbox and is currently the only one on the market with this feature.
The Aera 5000 features a 7-inch touch-compatible display with optional Bluetooth connectivity, park assist, keyless operation, OTA updates, progressive blinkers, and welcome lights. The 5000+ variant includes Bluetooth connectivity as standard, along with a lifestyle and care package whose details have not been disclosed yet.
The Aera is priced at Rs 1.44 lakh and Rs 1.54 lakh for the 5000 and 5000+ variants, respectively, and comes with a standard 3-year warranty for both the battery pack and the bike. The charger’s inclusion in the price has not been confirmed yet.
Matter Energy plans to open its first experience center in Ahmedabad in the next 45 days, followed by 20 dealerships across the country in the next three months.
