Honda SP160 motorcycle launched

Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India (HMSI) has expanded its 160cc lineup with the launch of the 2023 Honda SP160, a premium commuter motorcycle, in India. The new model is priced starting at Rs 1.18 lakh, ex-showroom, and joins the company’s existing 160cc offerings, including the iconic Unicorn and the X-Blade.

The Honda SP160 is built on the Unicorn platform and shares design features with the SP125. It showcases a muscular fuel tank, a long single-piece seat, an all-LED headlamp, and an H-shaped taillamp. Customers can choose from six color variants: Matte Marvel Blue Metallic, Matte Axis Gray Metallic, Matte Dark Blue Metallic, Pearl Spartan Red, Pearl Igneous Black, and Pearl Deep Ground Gray.

Under the hood, the 2023 Honda SP160 is powered by a 162.7cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, fuel-injected engine that is OBD2-compliant. The engine produces 13.2 bhp at 7,500 RPM and 14.58 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 RPM, paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The motorcycle’s suspension system includes telescopic front forks and a mono-shock absorber at the rear. Braking is handled by a front disc brake with single-channel ABS, and buyers have the option of a drum or disc unit at the rear. The SP160 also features an all-digital instrument cluster, providing information such as speedometer, tachometer, and gear position indicator. However, it does not offer Bluetooth connectivity.

The launch of the Honda SP160 adds to HMSI’s growing portfolio in the 160cc segment, offering a new option for commuters seeking a blend of style, performance, and functionality.
