Ather Energy Sells 8,213 Scooters in October: Its Highest Sales Ever

Commenting on the achievement of its highest-ever sales in a month, Ravneet Singh Phokela, Chief Business Officer, Ather Energy, said: “We’ve had a great festive season and have registered record sales over the past couple of months. This month we crossed 8,000 retail sales, with demand coming from across the country. Importantly, the growth came from new as well as existing cities, and we expect this momentum to get stronger over the next few months.”

He further added, “Having addressed the supply chain issues over the last few months, our focus is now on servicing the strong demand that we are seeing, and ensuring that we keep the waiting period down to a bare minimum for our customers. In our endeavour to build accessible charging infrastructure to fast-track EV adoption, this month we achieved a major milestone of having installed 500 charging stations across India. This possibly makes us the biggest fast charging network for two-wheelers in the country. We have also added eight retail outlets this month and are investing aggressively to ensure our scooters are easily accessible across the country.”

Markets like Kerala, Maharashtra, and Karnataka have shown great customer demand, according to the Bengaluru-based startup. On October 23, Ather shipped 250 Ather 450X machines to Bengaluru in time for Diwali. With its network expansion effort, Ather also is gaining a lot more traction in the country. Eight new experience centers have been opened by the EV OEM, which has plans to grow from its current 56 outlets in 50 cities to 120 showrooms in 95 cities by the end of the current fiscal year (FY2023). These new centers are located in Pondicherry, Jodhpur, Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Vellore, Ludhiana, and Madurai.

According to the company, the increased supply to Ather’s showrooms around the nation is what is enabling the company to achieve these monthly best results. Ather Energy’s chief business officer, Ravneet S. Phokela recently during a discussion with Autocar Professional in September stated that most supply chain issues had been overcome and that the firm aimed to use all of its production capacity, or 10,000 units per month, for the remaining months of FY2023. The Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu, which has a production capacity of 400,000 units annually, will thereafter advance to launching its second production line.

Additionally, Ather expanded its EV charging network across 56 Indian cities in October and set up its 580th fast-charging station in India, the Ather Grid. By the conclusion of FY2023, the company intends to add 820 additional grids, bringing the total to 1,400. The firm now operates India’s largest two-wheeler fast-charging network, with 60% of its Ather Grids strategically distributed throughout markets.
