Royal Enfield will reveal the price of the eagerly awaited Himalayan 450 motorcycle at the upcoming Motoverse 2023 event in Goa on November 24. Touted as the most anticipated bike of the year, the new model is expected to take the Indian market by storm with its advanced features and competitive pricing.
The Himalayan 450, a significant upgrade from its predecessor, the Himalayan 411, boasts a 65 percent increase in power and a 25 percent increase in torque, thanks to its new Sherpa 450 engine. The liquid-cooled engine delivers 40 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 40 Nm of peak torque at 5,500 rpm.
Built on a new twin-spar frame, the Himalayan 450 features an open-cartridge upside-down front fork and a rear monoshock, providing 200 mm of wheel travel. It is equipped with a 320 mm front disc and a 270 mm rear disc brake, complemented by switchable dual-channel ABS. The transmission is supported by a 6-speed gearbox.
The Himalayan stands out with a 21/17-inch front/rear rim configuration and is currently shipped with conventional spoked wheels. However, Royal Enfield is also finalizing tubeless spoked wheels, anticipated to be standard by early 2024.
The motorcycle doesn’t fall short on features, boasting all-LED lighting, ride-by-wire throttle, two riding modes, and a slip-and-assist clutch, akin to premium offerings from brands like BMW and Harley-Davidson. The tail lamp, integrated with the rear indicators, adds to the bike’s sleek design.
The Himalayan 450 distinguishes itself with a new all-digital instrument cluster, smartphone connectivity, and integrated Google Maps navigation. Despite weighing 198 kg, the bike offers a substantial 17-litre fuel tank, an attractive feature for long rides.
The upcoming Motoverse event, spanning three days, will include workshops, races, showcases, and music concerts. The Himalayan 450 is slated to replace the 411 model and is expected to be priced between Rs 2.16 lakh to Rs 2.60 lakh, ex-showroom, still undercutting its closest competitors, the KTM 390 Adventure and the BMW G 310 GS.
