The country’s largest two-wheeler manufacturer which also happens to be the biggest in the entire world – Hero Motocorp recently shared its sales statistics for the recent festive month. The company announced that in the 32-day festive season, which spanned from the first day of Navratras to the day after Bhai Dooj, the company dispatched a total of 454,582 units in October 2022. The company added that it witnessed a strong double-digit retail growth of 20% over the corresponding festive period of FY’22.
Hero MotoCorp sold a total of 419,568 units of motorcycles last month which was accompanied by the sales of 35,014 scooters. The total sales tally rounded up to 454,582 units. The YTD sales of fiscal 2023 stood at 3,272,943 units meanwhile the YTD for the fiscal year 2022 was 3,011,100 units. The total exports in the month of October 2022 summed up to a total of 11,757 units as well.
Hero attributed the recent Hero GIFT Grand Indian Festival of Trust program to the 20 percent increase in sales. The company provided new model refreshes, retail perks, a plethora of financing plans, pre-booking discounts, and a few more benefits under this promotion. Hero scooters were further supplied with incentives up to Rs 13,500, such as 1-year insurance, 2-years of maintenance-free service, Rs 3,000 in exchange bonuses, Rs 4,000 in gift cards, 5 years of guarantee, and 6-month EMI options with 0% interest.
In other Hero MotoCorp news recently the company launched its electric sub-brand Vida’s first product the Vida V1 electric scooter at a starting price of Rs 1,45,000. The much anticipated Vida e-scooter has been launched with options between the Vida Plus and Vida Pro models. The former will be priced at Rs 1,45,000 and the latter will cost Rs 1,59,000.
The Vida electric scooters come with extremely convenient swappable batteries. Meanwhile, other includes technological amenities of the Vida e-scooters include a 7.0-inch TFT touchscreen dashboard, keyless entry, Emergency Alert, Follow me home lights, and multiple riding modes. A proprietary app is also available for pairing a phone to it. The limp home function of the Vida is another special attribute. In the event that the SOC falls below a set threshold, VIDA V1 provides the rider with the option to go at 10 kph for around 8 kilometers to a destination of their choice.
The company has introduced two models as mentioned earlier. The Vida Pro and the Vida Plus. According to the company, the Vida Pro gets a claimed range of 165 km on a single full charge and 0-40kmph happens in 3.2 secs. The top speed of the scooter has been limited to 80 kmph and its swappable batteries can be fast charged. Vida also claims that the batteries can be charged from 0-80 percent in just 65 minutes. Moving on to the other variant of the model – the Vida Plus. It gets a claimed range of 143 Km. The top speed of this cheaper variant is although the same as the Pro variant at 80 kmph, it takes slightly longer for 0-40 kmph at 3.4 secs.
A high-voltage Li-Ion battery pack containing nickel and manganese cobalt is also one of the highlighted features of the VIDA V1. The battery of the VIDA V1 Pro is rated at 3.94 kWh, whereas the VIDA V1 Plus battery is rated at 3.44 kWh. For the scooters, Hero is providing a normal five-year warranty for 50,000 miles. Meanwhile, the batteries will be good for three years or up to 30,000 miles, according to the company.
