The super scooter Aerox 155 from the house of the Japanese two-wheeler manufacturer Yamaha that shares its heart with its sports bike sibling R15 and has recently received an additional color palette of seven new colors in the Indonesian market. Although for the Indian enthusiasts of this maxi scooter, there is a piece of bad news. Currently, these new colors will be only offered in the Indonesian market and as of now, the company has not revealed if these colors will be offered in India or not.
The Aerox 155 comes in four regular trim colors and three limited-edition color schemes. Cyan Silver, Metallic Red, Black Silver, and Yellow Blue are the standard colors offered by the company. The front apron and side panels of each of these colors include jazzy designs in dual-tone colors. However, the special-edition Cyber City trim with multi-color panels, red wheels, and edgy red and white logos is the most unique-looking color option. The two additional special edition models, Prestige Silver and Maxi Signature, have single-tone body colors with golden wheels and graphics, making them appear richer and more high-end. The 2023 Aerox 155 is unchanged in every other respect than these aesthetic changes.
Mechanically, the same 155 cc single-cylinder SOHC liquid-cooled fuel-injected engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology that powers Yamaha’s sports bike offering the V4 R15 also powers the maxi-style scooter, a niche product on the Indian streets. The engine comes mated to a CVT automatic gearbox and a maximum output of 14.79 horsepower and 13.9 Nm of peak torque.
The scooter has an aggressive appearance that was influenced by the R series in terms of design. The scooter also has features like a Bluetooth-enabled LCD instrument cluster, LED headlight, LED tail lights, side stand engine cut-off function, and 14-inch alloy wheels. The Aerox 155 also has an underbone frame, an arrowhead-shaped mirror, an upswept exhaust located on the side, and a single-piece seat that is stepped up.
On the safety side, the scooter comes equipped with a disc brake up front and a drum brake down back, along with single-channel ABS for better control on the road. On this maxi-scooter, the suspension is taken care of by unit swings in the back and telescopic forks up front.
After a recent price increase, the Aerox 155 is now available in India in four colors: grey, black, blue, and a MotoGP edition. Currently, the standard variant of this model has been priced at Rs 1.41 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi) meanwhile, the MotoGP edition is priced at Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Although not directly but the maxi-style scooter currently competes with Aprilia SR 160 and SXR 160.
In other Yamaha news, back in April of this year, the company launched the newest generation of the highly anticipated model the MT-15 Version 2.0 at a price of Rs 1.6 lakh (ex-showroom). The new MT-15 Version 2.0 comes available in four colors Cyan Storm, Racing Blue, Ice Fluo-Vermillion, and Metallic Black.
